Cathédrale Saint-Cyr et Sainte-Julitte in Nevers

Fifteen centuries of history

Explore this unmissable architectural masterpiece. Entering the Cathédrale Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte, you’re faced by a mighty mix of architecture, the building’s history going right back to the 6th century. However, the 11th-century Romanesque style at one end and the 15th-to-16th-century Gothic style at the other impart an extraordinary atmosphere inside. Damaged by bombing during World War II, the cathedral was repaired, modern stained-glass windows adding to the atmosphere. Climb the Tour Bohier’s 285 steps to enjoy, from 52m on high, exceptional views over Nevers and the Loire River.
